Last
year the Sonic Acts Festival in Holland invited me to
curate/host a night of their 2006 edition. A few months later, I'm proud to say we've put together a
Very Strong Lineup... a wildly international group of men & women responsible for some of the
most exciting sounds in recent memory, from grime/dubstep to
bellydance punk to mutant hiphop to ragga, breakcore, to accordeon+voice electronica. And, as always, more...
All these underground
superstars will gather at Amsterdam's Paradiso on Friday
February 24, and you should come join us too! (No excuse if you aren't in the country -- so many budget

Breathtaking lineup! I'm coming (all the way) from Denmark to see this, absolutely awesome - but where to get tickets, and I guess it's a whole-day thing, so I should skip school friday and take a flight the 23th?

tickets... yeah, i will get more (useful) info soon. The festival has lectures & workshops on digital art during the day (a lot of DSP pioneers will be there this year) and fri + sat night both have these parties that start around 9 and go til 4. and cost around 12euros. Paradiso is nice, a converted church in central downtown with 2 rooms. I could be wrong with all this info, but i think it is roughly accurate.... more soon, yep. they are finishing up the webpages "as we speak"

Much thanks for bringing all these folks to amsterdam. I hung around with the free trawler that is Scotch Egg at new year. He's in terrible need of nanoloop fixes, cold turkey inspired.
Roo: tickets should be easy to get, perhaps even at the door...last year didn't sell out either as far as I know. Just check the paradiso or sonic acts web in a while.

I just emailed the Paradiso about the festival and Hans kindly replied saying that tickets can be bought by phoning the venue on 0031206211288. You can buy tickets for the whole weekend or just a day. On the festival website (www.sonicacts.com/navigation) it says the tickets are 12.50 Euros... which seems strangely cheap to me!

nah, 12.50 should be the normal price per night because Sonic Acts is a nicely subsidised festival. hurray to that! Otherwise this really wouldn't happen in Holland..which is why experimental weekends/festivals are very rare too.
